Scientific writing 2018

under the aegis of RSG-India

Scientific writing-2018 is an event where students have to write about their views and thoughts on a given topic. It is organised by ISCB under the aegis of RSG-India to give students an opportunity to improve their soft skills of scientific writing. This will also help to think across various directions of science and explore its different aspects. Student have to choose one topic on which they have to write an essay under the word limit of 1000 words. Note that entries more than 1000 words will be cancelled. Entries can be submitted individually or as a team. Only one entry should be submitted by the whole team, mentioning all the members clearly in the authors. Bachelor’s final year, Master’s and PhD students from any stream of science are eligible for this competition. The last date of receiving entries is 10th September, 2018 before 11:59 pm. The entries will be judged by ISCB members and different scientists and professors from scientific community across India. The judgement will be on the basis of creativity, structure of the essay, scientific concept used and explained, drawing conclusion on the topic and making independent decisions and future perspective. The winners in each category (A, B or C) will be given prize money of upto Rs. 5000. Winners will be announced one or two weeks before InCoB and prizes will be distributed during InCoB 2018 held in JNU, New Delhi.     • Any stream and need not necessarily pursuing computational biology or bioinformatics
    • Bachelor’s final year, Master’s and PhD students.

    • Winners will be announced one or two weeks before InCoB and prizes will be distributed during InCoB 2018 held in JNU, New Delhi.
  6. Judges:
    • The submitted entries will be judged by ISCB members and different scientists and professors from scientific community across India.
    • Entries will be judged on the basis of:
      • Creativity
      • Structure of article
      • Scientific concepts used in writing
      • Drawing conclusion based on the topic and making independent decisions
      • Future perspectives considered
